Yes, although we will have optional events throughout the day that are beneficial to set you up for success in your first semester.
No, registration day is only available in person. The advising process requires review of documents, including transcripts, the academic preference survey, and other factors (AP credits, etc.) which is best completed in person. But, don't worry! If you cannot attend either of these events, you will still be able to register in person when you arrive in August for orientation.
Attendance isn't required, but it is strongly encouraged. Students who attend a Summer Orientation will receive priority registration for fall classes. If you're unable to attend, you will still be able to register for classes later during your New Student Orientation experience in August -- just note that class availability may be more limited at that time.
There will still be options available, so no need to panic! One of the benefits of a small school like Transy is that many entry-level courses for first-year students are offered in multiple terms and usually have room. That said, attending a Summer Orientation session gives you first access to fall course registration, which can make it easier to get your preferred schedule.
No, advising sessions are available only to incoming students and their academic advisor. Each session will last approximately 20 minutes. Parents may wait in any of the available areas of the William T. Young Campus Center while their student is in their advising session.
At this event, you will only be registering for the fall term. However, at Transy, you will experience three terms each year: fall term, winter term and May term. Fall and winter term are each 14 weeks long and May term is one month long. You will take approx. 4 classes in fall, 4 in winter, and 1 in May Term. (This is called the 4-4-1 system.)
