      New Student Registration Day
is the first important step in the enrollment process for deposited students. This event will set you up for success and prepare you for your fall term at Transy.

→ What will I do at New Student Registration Day?

At the event, you will meet with an academic advisor who will help you register for fall classes. You will also have the option to:
      • Listen to interactive information sessions with Campus and Community Engagement, Dining Services, student leaders, and more!
      • Chat with representatives from offices across campus, including Financial Aid, Student Accounting, Residence Life, Public Safety, Student Wellbeing, Accessibility Services, the Registrar, Athletics, Career Development, and more!

      Frequently Asked Questions

As you prepare for your New Student Registration Day, we recommend that you look over the most commonly asked questions. For more detailed questions about the advising process, visit the Academic Advising & Registration page for incoming students.
✔️ What is required to submit before I attend the event?

There are a few steps you must take prior to arriving at the registration event.
      • Submit the Academic Preference Survey - Two Weeks in Advance: The Academic Preference Survey (found on your deposited checklist), must be submitted two weeks prior to your registration event. If you are attending April 26, it must be submitted by April 15. If you are attending June 10, it must be submitted by May 29. Your academic advisor will need this information to craft your fall schedule.
      • Submit your transcripts from any dual-credit institution: If you have completed or are in the process of taking any dual credit classes, you must submit them prior to your registration event. This information is critical as your academic advisor helps construct your schedule. You must submit these on the Dual Credit form found on your deposited checklist.

✔️ Can I attend only part of New Student Registration Day?

Yes, although we will have optional events throughout the day that are beneficial to set you up for success in your first semester.

✔️ Can I attend the event virtually?

No, registration day is only available in person for these two events. The advising process requires review of documents, including transcripts, the academic preference survey, and other factors (AP credits, etc.) which is best completed in person. But, don't worry! If you cannot attend either of these events, you will still be able to register in person when you arrive in August for orientation.

✔️ Do I HAVE to attend an event to register for fall classes?

No, it is not required to attend one of these events to register for the fall semester. If you cannot attend one of the two registration events, you will still be able to register for classes this fall during your First Engagements orientation experience. These events simply give you an opportunity to register in advance!

✔️ Will all the classes fill up if I wait to register in August?

Do not stress about getting into classes! The benefit of a small school like Transy is that most entry-level courses for first year students have plenty of room across disciplines. Classes are also often offered during multiple terms each year.

✔️ Can parents attend the advising session?

Unfortunately, no. Advising sessions are available only to incoming students and their academic advisor. Each session will last approximately 20 minutes. Parents may wait in any of the available areas of the William T. Young Campus Center while their student is in their advising session.

✔️ What does a Transy schedule look like? I have so many questions!

At this event, you will only be registering for the fall term. However, at Transy, you will experience three terms each year: fall term, winter term and May term. Fall and winter term are each 14 weeks long and May term is one month long. You will take approx. 4 classes in fall, 4 in winter, and 1 in May Term. (This is called the 4-4-1 system.)

We've made a page featuring your top questions about Advising & Registration, including what classes are required in your first year, when you can start major-based classes, and more! Click here to visit the Advising & Registration page.
